We have been looking at metaphors and similes as we read The One and Only Ivan. Personification was even discussed! As you read your chapter book, take note of the different devices your author uses. Write the title of the book you are reading, the author, and at least one simile or metaphor you found or other devices that your author used. Then tell what the author is trying to say. Why do you think authors use these devices?
